WebMacBook Pro screen/hinge makes grinding noise when opening and closing! I just had my MacBook Pro serviced at my local Apple store because the display was flickering spontaneously. They replaced both the logic board and the display itself.

I tried tightening the screws but they were already tight, and my MacBook hinge creaked like mad. I sprayed a TINY amount of WD40 onto an ear bud; wiped the bud on a tissue to remove the excess, and then swabbed the hinge ends very lightly. Works a treat.

WebMy MacBook Pro 16” (CTO) that I bought in early December started clicking randomly in the left side of the display hinge when closing the lid and 100% silent on the right side. Click sounds exactly like a metallic spring under tension, only clicks once and sometimes twice. Occurs around 30 / 50 degrees angle, always around those two angles.

Mine is the i7, 16gb, 512gb. The tech said it should not be making any noise and exchanged a brand new unit.
